As part of its ongoing efforts to enrich the GBIF data model and accommodate a wider range of biodiversity data, the GBIF Secretariat has launched a new programme to improve the integration of metabarcoding data. GBIF France is taking part in the pilot phase of the initiative and hosts an instance of a new tool—the Metabarcoding Data Toolkit (MDT)—which is the IPT-equivalent for eDNA resources. The MDT makes it possible to involve researchers and communities worldwide who hold metabarcoding biodiversity data. Feel free to test this new tool if your data allows it!
